Precious moments...

... that is, moments that made this Miss Universe pageant unforgetable... For example, it has been almost 50 years since a Japanese woman won it (Akiko Kojima, 1959). But regardless this fact, I can say that this pageant wins the best butt-fall ever. Just check the picture, as soon as I have the video I´ll post it -- promise!

For the time being, here is Miss Universe 2007: Riyo Mori, a 20-yr old girl who likes to dance, and dressed in an impresive black & purple Japanese-style gown. 1st runner up was Brazil, Natalia Guimaraes; 2nd runner up was Ly Jonaitis of Venezuela and 3rd runner up, Miss Korea, Honey Lee. Rounding up the group, the booed Miss USA, Rachel Smith, wich was the one who "gratiously" slipped and fell during the evening gown segment. Poor thing -- yeah right! Bet you had a good laught too.

Post updated on may 29th, at 11:31; here's the video, as I promised...

Tonight is the night.

Miss Universe is coming to you live from Mexico City at 8PM GMT-5. I should post more on this, but I'm feeling terribly lazy to type.

I'll just say that among the favorites tonight are Japan, Tanzania, Greece, Venezuela (of course), and some people say that some North European, that honestly, I don't see, I don't know, and frankly, I think I can care less.

Don't hurrah for a latina this year: it won't happen. I think the crown (or tiara, whatever) is going to Asia for a change. C'mon, the gringos need to diversify their markets. Asia is a huge one. Asia is so pageant-obsesed, only to equal (surpass?) Puejtogüiqueños and Venezolanos.

Ergo, the Mikimoto is going to Asia. And I stand by that. 100%.

Good luck to Sorangel, Miss Panamá. I hope you at least score in the final 15 :)

Yassou Athena!

UEFA Champions League final chapter will be played at the Athens Olympic Stadium, almost 13 year after the 1994 competition took over the white city, which has embraced the competition. As a reminder, it'll be played between the Serie A AC Milan and English Premier Liverpool.

Since the UEFA Euro 2004, that brought the continental football trophy to Hellas, greeks are starving and living football with such passion only compared to their Olympic madness that very same year.

So who you're siding with? Going red?

Let's see what happens.

Four hundred

They speak -- fluently and with all the slang -- about 20 different languages (including stupid in the case of Homer), they are not specially pretty, and if that wasn't enough, they are yellow.

The Simpsons are, with out a doubt, the longest running series: 18 seasons, and yesterday, they reached their 400th episode. Oooh-hoo! Now not only mocks how we see ourselves and others, but also gives us that sense of noir humor that (let's accept it) we saddistically like and embrace within us...

Ay caramba!

Dear little Matt G should be very proud and happy, after all this time he can still keep us Simpsoniacs plugged into the TV. There 40 million of us already, and still growing. Welcome to the club, my friend.

Is the movie not out yet??? D'oh!

All spins around you (Sakis Rouvas)

Again tonight I recall you and I want you (once) more
All takes me back and asks too much of me
Within the travel of time you take me away
My heart you are wearing as a ring
Again I will come to search for you in deep kisses
Your way to change, for you to want me (once) more
On your breath to burn as a concealed fire
I for you

All spins around you
Thoughts, words, relationships, all
All spins around you
Days, nights, months, years
All I ask of you, I give it to you
Mistakes, passions, madness, all
You are all in my life
Laughter, tears, all this you are

Which ever way I may walk, I end up there
Another love I won't experience, it'll only be you
Now I know where I am going, where I belong, me
This, my life I hold within the hands
Again I will come to look for you, to find you secretly
What is to follow to write so you don't loose your way after
And the only thing I will be saying to you is… I'm here (once) more
I for you

This is one of those things that you see once and keeps alocated in the back of your mind for a while... This Nike advertisement, with music from twice Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla, takes reggaeton a otro nivel when an inspired next-to-be-operated girl realizes that para verse bombón (to look hot), she has to sweat the ham.

Isnt't the most stupid, ludacris, preposterous, insane idea ever heard? Hell, yeah, that's why is a so good concept... Betcha thinking of sweating the ham now, or worst, you are looking up the song to download it in your iPod !!!

Can't blame you; I'll do the same later tonite :)

So, what do you think about this suda el jamón? Te quieres ver bombón?

A "prayer" wins Eurovision

Serbia's Eurovision 2007 entry won the song festival!

Molitva, Prayer in English, it's an espectacular ballad sung in Serbian language that cautivated, not only Eastern Europe countries, but the rest of the continent as well.

Here's the Crotian TV broadcast, with the lyrics as well.

MOLITVA
Ni oka da sklopim,
postelja prazna tera san,
a život se topi
i nestaje brzo, k'o dlanom o dlan.

K'o razum da gubim,
jer stvarnost i ne primećujem,
još uvek te ljubim,
još uvek ti slepo verujem.

K'o luda, ne znam kuda,
ljubavi se nove bojim,
a dane, žive rane,
više ne brojim.

Molitva, kao žar na mojim usnama je,
molitva, mesto reči samo ime tvoje.
(I) Nebo zna, kao ja,
koliko puta sam ponovila,
to nebo zna, baš kao ja,
da je ime tvoje moja jedina
molitva.

Al Bogu ne mogu
lagati sve dok se molim,
a lažem ako kažem
da te ne volim.

English translation
I'm wide awake
An empty bed drives my dreams away
Life melts like ice
Disappears in the twinkling of an eye

I'm losing my mind,
Pushing reality out of sight
Our lips are touching softly
You're the one I believe blindly

I walk around like crazy
Falling in love frightens me
Days are like wounds
Countless and hard to get through

Prayer...
It burns my sore lips like a fire
Prayer...
Thy name is something I admire
Heaven knows just as well as I do
So many times I have cried over you
Heaven knows just as well as I do
I pray and live only for you

I can't lie to God
as I kneel down and pray
You're the love of my life
That's the only thing I can say

More bla bla bla regarding the song contest soon, as soon as I review my precious recording of yesterday's event.

10 to the final... plus the other 14.

So, you are ready to poll for the song of Europe?

Poor Czech Rep. didn't make it, even thought they had a powerful song. Anyway, I think next year contest will be in the South. Spain's year this time? Probably, but doubt it. The guys are cool, but the song sucks big time.

I think Greece can repeat the wonder... then, again, why not Romania, let's say.

Let me think of my fave, and I'll let you know later on.

Hello, Helsinki calling

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for the 52th Eurovision festival. Let's hear what Europe thinks is the best song of the continent. The final will be held this weekend in Helsinki, Finland.

And this year for a change, there's no clear favorite!

If you happen to have satellite/cable tv, turn on Television Española (TVE) international channed this Thursday night for the semis and Saturday 9PM CET (2PM GMT-5) to watch the final.

Will pop beat over rock this year? Let's see how musy-mushy ESC turns out to be.

Stay tunned!
